Adding Roles and Rates

Glass Factory associates all rates to the role level, your roles should match your titles. We recommend, if you choose to set up costs, that you use a blended cost rate for the role. To use the margin reporting, cost rates are required.

In Edit Mode you will see the following options within your company profile:

  1. Add a role/title in the Role Name field.

  2. Add a SHORT NAME which will display inside your plans for soft booked roles, and for reporting. We recommend between 2 and 4 Characters. For example: Front End Developer could be FED

    Tip: you can select a color for the role by click on the left circle, this helps for sorting.

  3. According to the role, enter the client facing billing rate under Default Rate. All rate cards will be populated with the default rates in planning. Glass Factory allows for client based rate cards which can be made when a Plan is created.

  4. According to the role enter the associated Average Cost

    Tip: Using an average blending cost rate per role enables your project and product managers to actively manage margin. By using an average cost you can protect probability without having to share actual salaries with employees.

For each new role, click the +Add Role link and a new blank row will appear. Continue to add roles as needed.
